You work to resent Mr. Dalton for non giving you, and all other African Americans in the city, better living conditions. You resent all of the white people in the house because of their fortune, fine education, and their easy lives. In the novel empower Native Son, by Richard Wright, the protagonist, large doubting Thomas, unfeignedly lives this situation.
